momfinds“From giggle, the children’s retailer, comes the giggle Guide to Baby Gear. This guide breaks everything down for you in a way that is just perfect for those of us with frantic time lines and short attention spans. You’ll find suggested shopping lists for everything from pregnancy and beyond, and then detailed lists for travel, the nursery and feeding. Trust me, you’ll breathe a lot easier knowing that you have your bases covered with this comprehensive guide that thinks of everything (so you don’t have to)."

amandapeet“When you're a new parent, it can be pretty overwhelming wading through the huge variety of products on the market. This book helps simplify the process to find exactly what you need. It also helps you avoid just picking what's trendy, because it makes you really think about your lifestyle and what's right for you. I wish I had this book when I was expecting my daughter!"

iparenting“I loved this book! It is a great idea to bring first-time expectant parents and first-time grandparents up to speed on what the new world of baby products is all about. I found that the advice was practical and did not offer brand advice -- but rather offered style options that might be useful in choosing baby gear."

brott“As someone who works with new parents all the time, I’m frequently asked to recommend the “best” products. Problem is that whether it’s a stroller or a crib or anything else, there’s no such thing as absolute “best.” But there is a “best” for you and your lifestyle. My personal favorite or what your best friend bought might not work for you at all. So how do you evaluate your options? Pick up a copy of the giggle Guide to Baby Gear, which is a perfect roadmap to navigating the overwhelming world of baby products. Instead of telling you which brand to buy, the giggle Guide gives you the tools to assess your lifestyle and your needs and helps you ask the right questions so you can make the choices that are right for you and your family. A few minutes with this book and you’ll never have to wonder whether you’re really made the right decisions.”

David Netto“giggle's founder and CEO Ali Wing is like your mother, best friend, mom's group, Wikipedia, and Consumer Reports rolled up into one being. Since she opened the first giggle baby store in San Francisco, Ali and her wonderfully trained and super knowledgeable staff have been helping customers figure out what to buy for their expanding families… For example, if you live in the suburbs, stroller weight might not matter as much to someone who lives in a fifth story apartment with no elevator so even if your best friend loves her Bugaboo, it might not make sense for you. I loved the Baby Bargains book, but products are constantly changing so it was out of date as soon as it's published. As the old saying goes, giggle is not giving you the fish, they're handing you the fishing pole and teaching you how to fish.”

Christiane Lemieux“As a new mom, I am totally indebted to Ali for helping me navigate the world of BPA-free bottles. The market changed so significantly between my first and second baby that it left my head spinning. I literally needed a re-education. With all the changes and updates to baby product and gear, the giggle Guide to Baby Gear is an essential primer for me and all new parents."

McMoyler“Finally! A practical and easy to use baby gear guide to assist expectant and new parents with everything from A-Z…let’s face it, selecting a stroller is harder than buying a car these days! Ali Wing has literally taken the guess work out of what, how much and when to buy what every new family household needs. It has been my pleasure to refer McMoyler Method graduates to Ali’s brainchild, giggle, her savvy baby boutique that is spreading like wildfire across the country. As a McMoyler Method graduate herself, we have exchanged ideas and information for years; I am delighted to now have the giggle store, transformed into book format, assisting parents everywhere in their quest to buy the best for their babies. It is my pleasure to highly recommend: giggle Guide to Baby Gear! ”

David Netto“Why this wasn’t written long ago is one of the mysteries of this industry, but the giggle Guide to Baby Gear is here now, and that’s what’s important. giggle founder Ali Wing’s new guidebook is a godsend to intelligent parents who want to spend less time wondering whether they need an item at all, and more time choosing and making room for things they really want. To be clear: this is not a product review, full of biases, inaccuracies, and encyclopedic content covering brands and products that for the most part are of no interest; this is a guide to what actually is and is not necessary to own. There’s a big difference! One of the most confusing things for new parents is figuring out what, in the ocean of products out there, one actually needs to buy -- and for no two people is this the same. Is a glider a necessity for you? Do you want a crib with drop-side rails, or fixed? What IS supposed to go in a diaper bag? The giggle Guide to Baby Gear demystifies what has become an entrenched and confusing consumer culture, and makes it easy to identify what actually deserves to take up precious space in your house -- and decide for yourself what to leave on the shelf. The book is an easy, fun read, and puts on the page giggle’s philosophy of offering an edited “Best Of” to keep quality high and bewilderment at a minimum. Hats off!

urbanbaby“Your friends have shared their must-haves, and the salesperson at your local megastore gave you a checklist. press_AC“Reading the giggle Guide to Baby Gear, by Ali Wing (Chronicle Books, $19.95) is like talking to a friend who's already had three kids, without having to endure her treatise on why the Diaper Dekor is far superior to the Diaper Genie. Unlike many baby gear guides, this one doesn't recommend specific product makes and models. Instead, it introduces the many, many, many kinds of baby products on the market, and provides guidance on what to look for when you're picking one. It explains confusing lingo that seems foreign to expectant parents (what the heck is a "universal system," anyway?). And it gives you an idea of what you really need to have, and what you can probably do without.

Parents-to-be who want a little more hand-holding regarding actual brands will need to look elsewhere, but for new moms and dads looking for a basic intro to baby gear, "Giggle Guide" is a well-organized, comprehensive starting point. Plus, it offers a few bonuses that some guides don't, like thoughts about how specific products will grow with your baby (or not). ”
